Roads Budget Anger After Another Year Of Poor Funding

by Aude Boubaker-Calder on 1 June, 2021

At the recent Council budget meeting, for the first time in years the Council had a reasonable increase in its funding from the Scottish Government. Despite this, the Council has failed to support proposals made by the Fife Liberal Democrats to put proper funding in our roads and local communities.

Aude Boubaker-Calder has said,

“Fife’s roads are crumbling and are in an unacceptable state. The Liberal Democrats proposed an additional £7 million over the coming three years for our roads which the SNP and Labour coalition running the Council rejected.

“In addition, they refused to give local communities extra funding. I couldn’t believe how out of touch they are. This was easily affordable in this budget, so please do not believe anyone who says Fife can’t afford to maintain our roads – that is simply not true!”
